Case study: UX/UI redesign
I was hired to redesign the website of an association that organizes tournaments in picigin. (Picigin is a traditional Croatian water sport played with a small ball on a sandy beach.)
Project overview
The client, who arranges these tournaments, initially developed a website to provide comprehensive information for participants and followers. As a developer, however, he acknowledged his unfamiliarity with optimal UX design practices. Seeking professional help, he brought me on board to revamp the website for the upcoming season.
Challenges
Upon consultation and thorough analysis of the current website, several key issues were identified:
Poor navigation hindering user experience
Non-responsive design across different devices
Inconsistent design elements affecting visual coherence
Inadequate color contrast impacting readability and accessibility.
I was asked to deliver high-fidelity prototypes for desktop, tablet and mobile devices within 1 month.
Outcome
Through strategic redesign efforts, I implemented a new information architecture that significantly enhances user navigation and accessibility across the association's website.
Beginning with comprehensive Lo-Fi and Hi-Fi wireframes, I meticulously planned and refined the user interface, ensuring optimal user experience. After testing and iterative improvements, the redesigned website now boasts a cleaner aesthetic. The enhanced color contrast ensures readability, while consistent design elements contribute to a cohesive visual identity. Moreover, the website is fully responsive, adapting seamlessly to various screen sizes and devices.
Overall, the project has successfully transformed the website into a user-friendly platform that meets the expectations of both the client and the website visitors.
