About the Project

Rooted in the celebration of black love and identity, BLK, the premiere dating and lifestyle app passionately champions meaningful connections.

Emoji usage has become a powerful form of communication within black culture, allowing for nuanced expressions and fostering a sense of community.

With this in mind, we worked on amplifying these connections by providing a set of unique, culturally resonant emojis that enhance digital conversations.

The Process

I broke each emoji down to the basics by conducting research on similar projects and its use on social media.

Then, I established the direction with the client and proceeded to iterate on the designs based on their feedback till we arrived at a version that met all the conditions they needed fulfilled for the emoji.
