Fight for Kindness 2024

Here is my Fight for Kindness - Kindness is the sensibility, love, charity, humanity, empathy, and trust we can bring to others, making a simple word meaningful. The first act of kindness is to begin with yourself, or the i letter.

Background

Fight for Kindness is a not-for-profit project by Typecampus in partnership with Zetafonts, You Creative Media, Typeroom, Type Directors Club, and other notable organizations. It is an annual typographic poster showcase designed to spread the values that constitute kindness in an unexpected and powerful way. Since the first edition in 2022, exhibitions have been held in multiple cities in Italy, France, Spain, Bulgaria, Hungary, the UK, Egypt, and the US.

To participate, designers need to submit artwork that contains an inspirational headline or message for a more empathic, inclusive, and positive world. This year's theme celebrates World Kindness Day with a focus on “unexpectedness,” challenging the design community to express kindness in fresh, concrete ways through the power of typography.

My submission

Being kind generally means showing empathy, compassion, and consideration towards others. But it remains just a word until we fulfill it through actions. All the sensibility, love, charity, humanity, empathy, and trust we could bring to others makes the word meaningful. This message is represented by the outlined word, ready to be filled in with color. And the first and most valuable step in this process would be, to begin with yourself. We need to be kind to ourselves first, and then we will spread the kindness to others. Here is why we start with the i letter.

The Result

I participated for the first time, and I got a chance to have my submission featured in the Fight for Kindness 2024 online gallery. TypeCampus selected my project Kindness Is Just a Word and provided this opportunity to explore my conceptual design skills and typography mastery for a meaningful cause.
