The Concept Art of Rex Party: Neo-Expressionist Chaos

At Gogh, we are thrilled to present our latest collaboration with Rex Party, an indie-rock band whose raw energy and innovative sound have captivated audiences. Our task was to design the visual assets for their electrifying new album, "The Fool," encompassing a music video, album artwork, and promotional items.

The visuals for "The Fool" were crafted by Hans Kotaro, the band's bassist and a member of Gogh. Drawing inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat and the neo-expressionism art movement, Hans' artwork embodies the album's rebellious spirit and the vibrant chaos of youthful subcultures in Indonesia. His paintings are a riot of color and emotion, mirroring the band's dynamic sound and theatrical production.

We also had the pleasure of collaborating with the talented Siravaim (Gery Fertian), who brought his expertise as a motion artist to the project. Siravaim's work on the music video captures the raw energy and emotional depth of Rex Party's performances, adding a dynamic visual layer to their storytelling.

The motion graphics are crafted to amplify the emotional resonance of Rex Party's music.

A special credit goes to Tiffany Sharleen, our exceptional designer, whose creative vision and meticulous design work brought the album artwork and promotional materials to life. Her contributions were instrumental in capturing the essence of Rex Party's music and translating it into compelling visual art.

The neo-expressionist influences are evident in the vibrant, pulsating animations that sync with the band's intense sound. Each track features tailored visuals: "Sins and Fallacies" is accompanied by jagged, aggressive graphics, "Bang! Bang!" uses explosive imagery to illustrate social bravado. These  rapid, energetic motion graphics transform the music video into a moving canvas, capturing the essence of Rex Party's rebellious spirit.
