Wildlife Park Guide App

The Nomad app is a unique and comprehensive park guide designed for naturalists, wildlife enthusiasts, and tourists. It offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore Kenya’s National Parks and actively participate in wildlife conservation efforts.

The Problem:

There is a lack of an all-in-one app that helps local and foreign tourists make the most of Kenya’s National Parks.

The Goal:

To design an app that would cater to a tourist’s primary needs when visiting a National Park in Kenya and promote the conservation of wild animals. The app allows users to;

-Book tickets in advance.

-Use maps that are bespoke to the parks they visit. Maps that can work offline.

-Search for accommodation within the parks.

-Access a wildlife guide that gives users a breakdown of the animals in the park.

-Engage with an interactive blog where people share stories about their adventures in the parks. Theoretically, this should keep user retention rates high by giving people a reason to open the app, even after they have left the park.

-Stay updated on the latest community and conservation campaigns.

The Design:

The Nomad app is designed with the user in mind, adhering to the principles of UX. It is not just useful and usable but also equitable and enjoyable. The chosen colour scheme, predominantly pastel green and beige, evokes the spirit of a safari, mirroring the green of the grass and the brown of the soil.

Equity:

To make the app accessible to a wide array of users, the app has the following features;

-Language selection.

-Text size modification.

-Pinch and zoom gestures.

-Voice control on the map.

-Use of negative space to make content more legible.

- A carefully thought-out Information architecture that establishes hierarchy. The use of type class, typeface, colour schemes and button shape and placement is consistent, making the app easier to navigate.
