Sanggeni Collective — Visual Identity
About
Sanggeni Collective is an art collective based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Our artistic works are not limited to a single style, genre, movement, or material. Instead, Sanggeni was formed to unite individuals with diverse styles, genres, movements, and materials in creating visual art.
The name “Sanggeni” was originally inspired by the name of the alley—Gang Wisanggeni—where our collective was formed. Wisanggeni is a character from Javanese wayang (shadow puppetry). In Javanese, “Sang Geni” can be interpreted as “The Fire”. Our decision to use the name Sanggeni reflects the spirit of our members to burn brightly and shine in the world of visual arts.
