Young Tish the Carpenter - Palia

I had written such a long explanation here but lost all of it.

I will skip a lot of the character backstory I had originally written here and just skip to the stor behind why I drew this.

Firstly, I had drawn this months ago as the servers had crashed in Palia (it was months ago and it's in Beta so it's understandable) so a lot of the community was hanging out in the Discord and someone suggested we quick draw some characters for the fan art thread. This was the one I did. There are words on it because if you know the characters the size if the scarf makes sense and the hammer makes sense. :)

I know my drawings and work are more amateur but there is no harm in trying and practicing and growing.

I love charcoal sketches so much and feel they often have a way of capturing human expressions and gestures with necessary imperfection and poignant simplicity. And that style really suits this particular character in Palia.

I highly recommend Palia by the way. It has rich lore, characters and the human community is, honestly, wildly friendly and kind and thoughtful. And it's in beta so it grows with you. The discord Memes thread is also next level 😂🤘

I hope someday to be able to make art that SHOWS stories. Gestures, expressions, poignancy real connection and reminds me that what some may see as flaws are simply details and differences. I know I have such a long way to go but I want to honor the human experience and the human ability to look beyond and transcend into imagination and play as well. I'm grateful for the opportunity I have to keep trying to learn how.
