Flight Search: A Minimalist Experience for Last-Minute Flights

Introduction:

This mini case study presents a minimalist page design for last-minute flights, created as part of #UIX101 task #068. The core objective of the design is to provide a quick and easy flight search experience for users in urgent situations or with time constraints.

Problem:

Users searching for last-minute flights are often under stress and time pressure. This can be further exacerbated by complex search forms and long loading times.

Solution:

The key priorities in this design are:

• Speed: The page is designed to load and respond quickly.

• Simplicity: A simple and straightforward search form is presented without bombarding the user with questions.

• Context: The user's location can be detected and an option to fly from the selected location to any destination is provided.

Design:

The page consists of the following elements:

• Departure Location: Automatically detects the user's location or allows manual entry.

• Arrival Location: Freely selectable by the user.

• Time Range: Display flights available for departure within the next [x] hours from the time the user opens the app.

• Search Button: Initiates the search process.
