Dell Premier homepage

At the end of 2023, I was tasked with designing the new homepage for the Dell Technologies logged in area. When I joined the team in the middle of the project, I found the business rules and functionalities completely defined. This allowed me to dedicate my full attention to the visual design of the new experience and the implementation of planned features, ensuring an intuitive and visually attractive interface for users.

Challenges and problems

The Dell Technologies logged in area did not have its own homepage, its main page being the Standard Configurations page, which offered only a portion of the useful information for customers. Given the diversity of pages available in the logged-in area, there was a need to design a central screen that would facilitate access to key information, providing a more agile and unified experience.

Furthermore, it was essential to create a space dedicated to notifications and the promotion of new products by the marketing team. In response to stakeholder requests, we also designed dashboard customization functionality on the homepage, allowing users to adapt the screen according to their specific needs.

Check out the results:

As the first block on the dashboard, I designed a quick view panel with big numbers and links to the other Dell Premier pages.

One of the main challenges I faced was designing the containers for the dashboard itself. Each container needed to display different types of information, requiring a customized approach for each piece of content. I worked hard to create containers that, although customized, maintained visual and functional coherence with the dashboard standard.

Notification area

One of the improvements I made to the Dell login area was to redesign the notifications section. I decided to reorganize the notifications into three main categories: Latest Updates, New Features, and Activity Updates. This decision was made in collaboration with a business stakeholder, who accompanied me throughout the project and helped categorize the notifications according to their degree of importance. This improved categorization makes it easier for users to see and prioritize the most relevant information.

Widget manager

I designed this new feature to allow the dashboard to be managed and customized. To do this, the user needs to click on "Add Widgets" and drag the widget blocks to add or remove items as desired. This functionality has been extremely well received in user tests, meeting a long-standing demand from Dell customers.

Results

The project went through several rounds of usability tests and was approved by the team for the development phase. During this process, some changes were made to meet other business needs. I was subsequently transferred to another project. We are now waiting for the project to be published in order to monitor usage metrics and assess their impact.
