Flavored Milk Book Challenge Bookmarks

I was inspired by the various milk flavors available in many Asian countries.

Before I became old and painfully lactose intolerant, I often admired the designs of the milk boxes I received at elementary school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

I've always found the designs very delectable. As soon I saw a pink box, I imagined the taste of room-temperature artificial strawberry flavor.

And as years went by, they got more creative with the flavors. So there's banana, melon, coffee, and taro tastefully reflected on the packaging design.

I thought, how fun would it be to have various colors of milk cartons as functional bookmarks!

But I noticed since my target customers are mostly from Western countries, the sentiment of the designs doesn't translate quite well... yet...

I've got multiple favorites but no carts and check-outs.

Still, I'm not deleting the listing from my store yet. Also, I'm hoping to find a new home for it soon.

The Design

Like my other printable designs, I achieved such beauty by the grace of Canva...

I know. I'm being a tad too dramatic, and perhaps simply ridiculous. But I haven't written for fun in a while, so let me have this.

Now, the design.

Simply put, I created a Canva frame of a milk carton using Microsoft PowerPoint.

Then, I designed the background of each carton on a blank US Letter template. After I was done with that, I inserted each background on each carton.

Next, I added typography, some effects, and elements relevant to the function of each bookmark.

And done!

Sounds simple, isn't it?

Well, truth is, it took me a while to complete it. Lots of trial and error with the placement of each element, color, and typography.

It was always too messy, too dull, lots of negative space, overloaded with content, too colorful, not practical, etc.

It goes on and on.

That's just the nature of designing, isn't it?

But once you've reached the brilliance you envisioned, and you feel it in your gut this is the one, it's such a great feeling.

Of course, it would be even better if it's profitable...

Jokes aside, until the next design.
