Weekly Warmup – dad quotes

My dad, like many I’m sure, is a man of few words. And sometimes it’s not the words themselves, but the context in which they’re delivered that makes them memorable.

So there we were at the game, deep into the second half, watching our team lose. Spirits around us were not high. At one point our ‘keeper made a very unconvincing clearance, and a man nearby leapt from his seat to very clearly issue some “constructive criticism” about how he should have caught the ball instead – laden with enough expletives to “make a sailor blush”. Without missing a beat my dad turned to me and said “well, he’s not wrong…”.
