Speculative Design: Beauty/ Bone Worms

Beauty/ Bone Worms is a speculative design project at the intersection of biotechnology, beauty and ethics. My work is research-based and explores the future of collagen extraction from whale carcass using osedax/ bone worms 🪱 + nanobots in the context of our beauty-obsessed and extractive capitalist society.

The deep sea is host to creatures that have evolved over millions of years, creatures we haven't exploited yet. In the race for humans to look timeless, whose time are we entitled to rob?
