International Issue Poster:  Nurse and Patient Relationship

Concept Development:

The idea stemmed from my family connections. My mother is a Vietnamese immigrant, and my uncle is currently a foreign worker in Taiwan. This drove me to research more about foreign labor issues. I eventually focused on the long-debated topic in Taiwan of runaway migrant workers, particularly those working as domestic caregivers. The primary reason for this issue is the lack of proper regulations by the government regarding work hours and days off, leaving most decisions to the employers.

Concept:

Due to restrictions on freedom and language barriers, caregivers end up being watched over just like the people they care for. I envisioned the limited mobility of elderly individuals: wheelchairs, IV drips, hospital beds. These elements are simultaneously reflected in the caregivers, symbolizing not health-related mobility issues, but rather the constraints on their freedom.
