T-shirt Design Contest Entries For "Masego @ Glastonbury 2024"

We got creative and submitted two entries to the contest hosted by Oditi for the official t-shirt for Masego's performance at Glastonbury 2024 merch.

Entry n°1

The idea was to translate Masego's colorful and vibrant musical palette in an artwork, using mixed techniques and styles like oil painting, water colors, collage, ecc. all coming together to represent the jazzy and versatile style of his music. We started from a reference picture, treated it with an AI tool to rework it in different painting styles, until we got several results to work on. We then mixed and matched those results to create the final image, which were paired with different letterings, and finished it off with some brushes (and bubbles!) to blend it all together.

Entry n° 2

This design is inspired by the Jamaican history of covers and record sleeves, especially on the 60's and 70's. The font is once again a visual reference to those two decades. The overall image is treated with some grain and brush textures to mark that handmade look and feel of the art of that period. The main element, to blend in but at the same time to have a sense of contrast, is a portrait of the artist, created starting from a promotional photograph subsequently modified with various AI filters so that they transformed it into a sort of oil painting/GTA-portrait/pin-up style painting.
