HEINI - Credit Card Transaction Comparison Table
Financial dashboard that displays credit card transactions. This data comes from three sources: your internal database, Plaid (a financial data aggregator), and QuickBooks (accounting software).
Brainstorming Creating Solutions
Conditional formatting to highlight matched transactions in a specific color.
"Match" column for each matched transaction.
When hovering over the label, a popup can display which other sources the transaction matches with.
Easy to scan table layouts to prevent eye strain
Visual design elements (color coding, icons) to enhance clarity and user experience.
Category: As per the table provided in the brief I have replaced "Division" to "Category" and have assigned different colors to each category for holistic view or so that it can be easily identifiable. By using categories and color coding, Justin can quickly grasp spending patterns and identify areas of interest.
Semantic color coding: (red, yellow, green) clarifies status (cancelled, pending, completed).
Payment Methods: Different accounts (Visa and Master Card) and payment methods can be easily recognized if display in this visual way. Since this will give them hint which credit card was used.
Accessibility Intuitive User Experience: In Source and Matched again I have used Color coding. Blue for internal database. Green and Black for QuickBooks and Plaid respectively as per their branding colors. Matching colors to existing brand identities reinforces brand recognition within the financial dashboard. It creates a sense of familiarity and visual consistency for users.
Detailed Transaction View: The popup provides Justin with all relevant details associated with the transactions from that specific source.
Interactive Popups: Clicking on a specific source label (e.g., "Plaid") triggers a popup window.
Discrepancy Highlighting: The example highlights the ability to identify discrepancies between sources. In this case, a "Plaid" transaction might be marked as canceled, while the "Database" shows it as paid.
