Lake Effect - Surf / Board Logo

Hey guys! I am helping out a friend with a logo for his Board Shop he will be starting up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Believe it or not, there is actually a growing surf culture on Lake Michigan!

This is the first logo option, going to see if I can come up with a couple more. Still work in progress. Now that I see it posted up here, I think I will need to add some space to the counters of the "ff", "c", and "e". I see that I also am missing a highlight on the cross bar of the "ff".

Any other thoughts of how I can improve?
