"Pochemuchka" is a universal encyclopedia for children that will answer any questions they may have. It tells about the different houses, where people live, about the rich flora and fauna, inhabiting the earth, about amazing cars, ships, machines, inventions.The book gives an interesting description of food production: how we grow cereals, how we collect tea, how cattle are raised, what are the benefits of berries, vegetables and fruits. It contains a separate chapter about space, our Solar system and other galaxies.All articles f the book are written in a language that is interesting and understandable for children. Many topics are described in the form of poems and fascinating stories. Each page contains color photographs and illustrations.
The plot of the book is as follows. A boy named Panamka, a curious preschooler, turned to the city information bureau with a question: why does a cat need moustache? At the bureau a strict woman replied that they do not give such answers. The boy was upset, however, there was an old man, standing next to the bureau (in the book we know, that his name is grandpa Znai), who touched the child's curiosity. Grandpa and the boy became friends. Wanting to help him, grandpa Znai invented a children's information bureau in a book form, which could always be near inquisitive children and answer their questions. The painters Kistochkin helped grandpa illustrate the book, and another preschooler, bully and half-educated Mazila Babashkin, tried to confuse Panamka with all sorts of stupid questions. Well, the issuer of the right answers in the book was electronic computer "BUMka" – Big Useful Machine.
