Two Tone Modern Nightstand

The nightstand is made from white oak with a two-tone stain treatment.  The lighter wood is the natural color of the oak, but the darker wood was custom-matched to the stain color of the bed.  I milled a back bevel on the front to add a level of depth and to transition from the stain into the natural wood.

The client requested a cubby on top for convenient storage of phones, tablets, or books, allowing the nightstand surface to remain uncluttered while keeping devices within easy reach. To discreetly accommodate charging needs, a hole was drilled in the top right corner of the cubby, leading to an integrated power strip at the back of the nightstand, which includes both standard USB and mini USB charging ports.

The drawer boxes are crafted with dovetail joinery and equipped with under-mount soft-close glides. The interior designer selected sleek, modern drawer pulls to harmonize with the room’s color scheme and materials, adding a cohesive, contemporary touch.
