Evaluating the existing site:

With a four-member team, we ran a WCAG evaluation and two cognitive walkthroughs. In the WCAG evaluation, there were 18 violations; while in the cognitive walkthroughs, we found 8 major concerns relating to confusing page layout and information overloads.
