A 24 hr concept to shield against online cons
In a team of 4, I participated in the Womxn Gen AI Hackathon hosted by Scale AI. Over the 24-hour hackathon, we brainstormed and developed a mobile app concept leveraging AI and cybersecurity to help fight against online scam attacks that have taken the internet by storm.
The Challenge
Surprisingly enough, our research identified Gen Z being a prime target for online scams, particularly those related to job opportunities.
Branding
We tailored the app's branding and overall feel to resonate with Gen Z, crafting a modern-retro aesthetic. Our typography paired the playful "Brianne" font with the more serious "Gopher Mono", while a dark color palette reinforced the app's security focus.
Technical Mapping
Our technical framework leveraged PyTesseract and the OpenAI API. It analyzed job postings against standardized phishing criteria using machine learning to generate a scam score. While the above designs showcase the app's potential user interface, further development would be needed to fully realize this functionality.
Future Impact
By equipping users with AI-powered tools to detect suspicious job postings, our app can contribute significantly to reducing online scam losses.
