Cancer Matters Information Portal

UI/UX For Web - Cancer Information Portal

Project Overview:

In collaboration with the Dorset NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, I created a comprehensive UI/UX design for a dedicated web portal aimed at cancer patients and their support networks. The goal of this project was to create an intuitive and user-friendly platform where patients, carers, relatives, and healthcare providers could easily access information pertinent to specific cancer journeys and locate local support services.

Target Users:

  • Patients: Seeking detailed information about their specific type of cancer.

  • Carers and Relatives: Looking for ways to support their loved ones.

  • Healthcare Providers: Needing a resource to share with patients and families.

Design Objectives:

  • User-Centric Navigation: Ensured the portal was easy to navigate, allowing users to find relevant information quickly and efficiently.

  • Localised Content: Focused on providing content specific to the Wessex area, ensuring users receive accurate information about local healthcare services and treatment options.

  • Support Integration: Included features for users to search for local support groups, events, and resources, enhancing their support network during treatment.

  • Responsive Design: Created a fully responsive design to ensure accessibility across various devices, including desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

  • Engaging Visuals: Suggested incorporating a main graphic of a human body on the landing page. Users can click/tap on the relevant body part to access information about specific types of cancer.

Key Features:

  • Dynamic Landing Page: The main graphic of a human body serves as an interactive entry point, allowing users to navigate directly to information about specific types of cancer.

  • Cancer-Specific Homepages: Each cancer type has its own homepage with sections describing each step of the cancer journey, from symptoms to diagnosis to treatment.

  • Clear and Informative Design: The site maintains a balance of being informative and engaging, ensuring high levels of information are presented clearly without overwhelming the user.

Branding:

As there was no specific branding related to this project, the client suggested that we create new branding for the website. I designed a unique logo and colour palette, while adhering to the typography of the NHS brand guidelines to maintain consistency and familiarity for users as they may be signposted to the NHS website during their search.

The resulting design offers a seamless and supportive online experience tailored to the unique needs of cancer patients and their support networks in the Wessex area, enhancing their healthcare journey with relevant and accessible resources.
