Marqeta Time Square Takeover
Marqeta aspired to establish itself as a beacon of innovation in reshaping the landscape of modern finance, emphasizing its integral role in people's daily lives. Tasked with crafting a 30-second looping animation for the Nasdaq Tower and Marquee in Times Square, our objective was clear: design a visually striking, impactful animation capturing the attention of passersby.
From the outset, two key elements took precedence for the client - the grid and the transitions/animations around the card. The grid, symbolizing Marqeta's technology, needed to exude precision while emanating an intelligent, almost living quality. Transition effects and card animations were to be perceptible, dynamic, and visually engaging, all within the constraints of the tower's window frame, presenting a unique challenge.
Transitioning to the storyboard phase, we delved into myriad ideas, exploring diverse looks and feels. Navigating the peculiar dimensions and limitations of the location, we sought the optimal approach to convey the message effectively. As Marqeta underwent a small rebrand, our task included creating assets that would future-proof the envisioned brand language.
Upon approval, we seamlessly transitioned to 3D rendering and animation, meticulously bringing the envisioned concept to life.
A final challenge awaited - adapting the animation to a horizontal billboard configuration. This required thoughtful consideration to ensure the narrative remained compelling and cohesive in an altered dimension.
Simultaneously, our efforts extended beyond the Nasdaq Tower project. While crafting these animations, we maintained a focus on other projects, ensuring a consistent brand language across various communication channels, including print and illustration.
