Kids: Creativity, Tech, Swim & Fun

Workshops are my passion, especially those designed for children. They are always fully booked, delighting participants and impressing my employers to the point that I often earn the title of Employee of the Month. My participants often write me heartfelt letters, praising the workshops and, more specifically, my involvement.

My dissatisfaction with the traditional German school system, stemming from my own negative experiences, drives me to create workshops that prioritize fun and engaging learning experiences. Here are some highlights from my workshops that focus on creativity, technology, swimming, and fun.

1. Baby and Toddler Swimming

Teaching babies and toddlers how to interact with water safely and enjoyably has been one of the most fulfilling jobs I've ever had. With my background as an experienced swimmer and rescue swimmer, coupled with my creativity from my professional major, each session became a themed adventure.

The themes explored the diverse ways to experience water: warm or cold, swimming, floating, splashing, dripping, diving, and playing with various toys. I tailored each activity to the children's age, enhancing their fine and gross motor skills, sensory perception, balance, teamwork with parents/grandparents/caregivers, and foundational swimming skills.

2. VR Workshops

During my master's studies, I developed creative technology workshops for a project called Kids Film University. The participants, aged 8-12, were digital natives already skilled with technology. I aimed to blend physical crafting with digital creativity, and Google Cardboard was the perfect tool.

In a short time, the children crafted their own VR glasses, which they personalized through drawing and gluing decorations. This activity fostered their autonomy and allowed them to immediately test their creations with smartphones. They could then take their VR glasses home, continuing to explore and share their projects.

3. Projection Mapping

The second part of my involvement with Kids Film University was a projection mapping workshop. It had to be cost-effective and provide a new way for the children to express their creativity. I divided them into small self-selected groups, each equipped with a laptop, projector, and smartphone for taking photos.

I taught them how to edit images and videos to map specific shapes. The resulting presentations were a delightful mix of creativity and humor, showcasing the children’s fantastic ideas and their imaginative interpretations.

4. Team Expansion

The success of my Kids Film University workshop series quickly spread, leading to an increased demand that required more helping hands. I recruited additional students, shared the core values of my workshops with them, and collaborated on new concepts. I continued to support them through pre- and post-session discussions to maintain the high standards of the workshop series.

5. Social Media Engagement

I also managed the Kids Film University’s social media presence, editing multiple videos for Instagram. The results were fantastic! Feel free to check out the screenshots of the posts I created before handing over the account.
