Adult Humour | Branding

Challenge:

To create branding for a new Australian online store specialising in "Inappropriate humour" gag gifts, aiming to stand apart in the sea of cheaply made and often unfunny gifts targeting 18 to 25-year-olds.

The Outcome:

This resulted in a design that feels fresh, colourful, and innovative. It stands out in the gag gift market while also fitting within the quirky nature of the product.

PHASE ONE

DEVELOPING THE STRATEGY

Over a one-day facilitated session, we identified the challenges that Adult Humour faced as a company. In the process, they prioritised the needs and goals of the business and its customers.

DEFINING THE BRAND

Through a series of exercises in the strategy session, we were able to extract and refine the key pillars of the brand. This defined the brand’s personality: how it should look, sound, and act. We clarified who they are as a brand and who they want their customers to be. This became the foundation for the branding and marketing plans for 2021 and beyond.

UNDERSTANDING THE USERS AND POSITIONING

Adult Humour sits within a crowded market of silly gags and bad jokes. They aim to stand out from the clutter. Therefore, it's important to define and narrow down their target users to better design the brand and products around them. We created unique user profiles to represent the range of potential customers. This painted a clear picture of their demographics, psychographics, needs, and wants.

The reasoning behind this is that it helps us create a brand designed around the customer and their needs.
