Morpheus · Futuristic AR Concept Apple Vision Pro · Product & UX

Hello! 🥽

I’m proud to present this Concept Driven Design, supported on Apple Vision Pro and mixing Augmented Reality (AR) and Speculative Design concepts.

[Goal of the Case Study]

The main goal of this case study was to use speculative design to craft a professional and realistic piece of design for an academic project. In Morpheus, you will find a speculative design matching Apple Vision Pro’s design system. You’ll find more on the associated concept below.

Morpheus : a speculative design

Morpheus is an innovative project designed to explore the boundaries of sleep and imagination through advanced technology. The primary objective of Morpheus is to allow users to craft personalized dream experiences by utilizing brainwave stimulation, AI-generated content, and customizable dream scenarios.

Objectives:

  1. Enhance Sleep Experience: Transform the act of sleeping into an immersive and fulfilling journey by allowing users to design their dreams.

  2. Promote Creativity: Encourage users to explore their creative potential by crafting unique dream scenarios, choosing characters, and selecting dream environments.

  3. Emotional Fulfillment: Provide a platform for emotional exploration and fulfillment, allowing users to reconnect with loved ones, explore fantasies, and relive cherished memories.

  4. Mindfulness and Relaxation: Promote mental well-being by encouraging mindful dreaming and relaxation techniques.

Critical Perspective: Morpheus also serves as a speculative design project aimed at highlighting the potential ethical and societal implications of advanced dream manipulation technology. The project seeks to denounce:

  1. Reality Escapism: The risk of individuals becoming overly dependent on fabricated dream experiences, leading to a disconnection from real life.

  2. Addiction Potential: The possibility of users developing addictive behaviors towards custom dream experiences, neglecting their waking lives.

  3. Perception Manipulation: The ethical concerns surrounding the manipulation of emotions and perceptions through dream technology, potentially altering users' sense of reality.

By presenting these issues, Morpheus invites critical reflection on how technology can profoundly impact our lives, our mental health, and our perception of reality. It challenges us to consider the balance between innovation and the ethical boundaries of technology use.
