Mobile App Revamp

Redesign a task management system for Techniche to bridge communication gaps between retailer partners and technicians.

Project Overview

Urgent (powered by Techniche) is a native app providing an automated CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) and facilities management solution for fuel and convenience retailers. It aims to reduce asset downtime, monitor costs, maintain compliance, and hold contractors accountable.

I joined the team as a product designer to help redesign the user experience and bridge the gap between business partners and technicians.

Scope

Role: Product Designer.

Timeline: 2 months.

Team: 4 members, including a project manager and 2 app developers.

Collaboration: I worked closely with 4 stakeholders from business partners and 4 technicians, gathering their real-life feedback to address their challenges and improve the user experience.

The key enhancement on this redesign process

  • User Accessibility

    • Implement tags to indicate task status in addition to color coding. This ensures accessibility and compliance with WCAG standards, aiding colourblind users in identifying information.

  • Simplifying the UI

    • Streamline the user interface by removing unnecessary information, colors, and components. Establish a clear visual hierarchy to align with the iOS Human Interface Guidelines.

  • Better Navigation

    • Enhance app navigation by making call-to-action buttons prominent and improving the menu and navigation system. This will help technicians quickly identify and prioritise the most urgent tasks.
