Tuna Fishing

This project is a labor of love.

Last summer I collected video (from my iPhone) of Marcel Israel and his friends Blue Fin Tuna fishing south of Block Island. The experience was incredible, and I was able to build a series of 12 videos that launched on Instragram over the next few months.

This is the first of a series of videos about boaters who have a boat towing membership and the peace of mind it gives them. I hope we find that creating more videos like these could be the next step in developing deeper connections with an audience without the need for professional videographers.

This originated as a very simple project. We asked selected boat towing members to share photos and videos of their boating experiences for us to use on social media. The goal was to show our audience firsthand what it means to enjoy boating knowing there is a safety net of support should something go wrong on the water.

However, I found that what was being provided did not hit the level of powerful story telling I was looking for. If we were going to introduce new content, it needed to match the level of expertise we were already creating and compete against the content our audience constantly scrolls through.

The only way I could achieve this was to get the assets ourselves. So, with just my iPhone in hand, I went out and captured start to finish stories about what a day in the life looked like for these boaters. The whole experience was eye-opening, and I cannot wait to share the whole series with you.
