Game-Ready Model of the Typewriter in a Historical Context
Hi all! The model typewriter has many small elements such as keys, levers, rollers, rollers, and the print head. It also has textures that convey wear and use marks on the metal surfaces and wooden body of the typewriter.
The low-poly mesh was created in the same way as the blockout in Maya.A high-poly model was created in Zbrush, as well as some historic elements.
To texture the model and environment, programs such as Substance Painter and Substance Designer were used. Visualization work was carried out in Marmoset.
When creating this machine, I was based on the mystical and mysterious atmosphere of the Harry Potter universe. When creating the model, I used the references of the Underwood typewriter No. 5.
Underwood is the name of typewriters produced by the company of the same name with headquarters in New York from 1895 to 1959. The Underwood is sometimes called the first modern and truly popular typewriter.
The Underwood No. 5 began production in 1900 and has been described as "the first truly modern typewriter." Two million cars were sold in the early 1920s, and their sales "were equal in number to the sales of cars of all other companies producing them combined." When the company was in its heyday, being the world's largest manufacturer of typewriters, its plant in Hartford, Connecticut, produced one typewriter per minute.
