Airbnb · Design of a New Feature · Product Design and UX Flow

Hello! 🏠

I’m very proud to present this case study of a potential new feature for Airbnb. It anticipates Airbnb’s will to conquer the travel planning market with the release of experiences by imagining a brand new feature and the associated UX flow.

[The Casy Study]

Airbnb is an online marketplace that connects travelers with hosts offering unique accommodations, from homes to apartments, in locations around the world. It allows users to book stays and experiences directly from local hosts, providing an alternative to traditional hotels.

[Goal of the Case Study]

With Airbnb 2024 Summer Release, Airbnb opened the way for a new type of collaboration on creating experiences with their platform. This led me to imagine how hosts could enhance their customers' experiences by creating their own.

This case study aims to create a new feature called ‘Planned Trips,’ which gives any Airbnb user the opportunity to create full travel experiences, including Airbnb accommodations, visits and activities, and acting as a local guide.

Below, you will find a UX flow for booking a fully planned trip on Airbnb. Indeed, after Airbnb introduced the possibility of booking activities and experiences for its customers, the next logical step would be to introduce fully organized stays, combining all the values present on the platform and reducing customers’ mental pressure to plan their own trips.

They would also benefit from the expertise of a local person who can determine the right places and things to do, guide them through the whole trip, and introduce them to other travelers.
