Wedding Card Designs
This project entailed the creation of two greeting cards designed to commemorate a wedding. The brief specified that one card should cater to the British consumer market, while the other should target the Chinese market. Both cards were required to incorporate culturally appropriate color combinations.
In order to meet the requirements of the design brief, I have conducted thorough research and discovered that pastel colors such as blush tones, creams, and whites are highly favored by British consumers for their ability to evoke a dreamy and romantic ambiance. In contrast, red is considered an auspicious color in Chinese culture, symbolizing success, love, and honor. As a result, a combination of red and gold was chosen for the Chinese market to reflect these positive connotations.
In addition to color selection, traditional Chinese design elements such as Chinese knots and Peony flowers were integrated into the designs to convey themes of unity, blessings, and wealth. The incorporation of these elements in the form of Chinese paper cutting patterns added a classic and traditional touch to the overall aesthetic. For the British consumer market, a simple yet modern concept was adopted, featuring imagery of a floral arch adorned with pastel blooms and a depiction of a classical bride and groom.
