The Brass Hat – Branding

I had the pleasure of creating the brand identity for The Brass Hat, a speakeasy in my hometown. I was asked to not only design a brand for the hidden bar, but also the business front. I came up with a narrative between the two identities that captured the mystery and intrigue of a hidden bar. The first features a classic scuba helmet, representing the “business front” dive shop, but hidden within–like the bar itself–an octopus emerges from the helmet.

We created the visual identity, enamel pins, merch, and an animation with Adam Loomis that beautifully portrays the transformation. The client also had a custom chandelier and neon lights made to elevate and brand the space.
