Emergency Services (Ambulance Booking & Tracking)
I worked on this collaborative effort with RED.Health: a mobile app that simplifies emergency ambulance booking and tracking. This app leverages UXUI design heuristics and lean design thinking framework to create a seamless and reassuring experience during critical moments.
Understanding the Need :-
Prompt and efficient access to emergency medical transportation is crucial. This app addresses the need for a user-friendly platform to connect individuals with ambulances in a timely manner.
Design Principles in Action :-
1. User Research & Empathy
Collaborative workshops with RED.Health and user research sessions identified pain points in existing emergency ambulance booking processes.
Key findings revealed a desire for a quick, intuitive app that provides real-time tracking and minimizes user effort during stressful situations.
2. Prioritizing User Experience
Accessible Toggle: An easily accessible toggle at the top allows users to specify who requires the ambulance service (self or someone else).
Location Management: Users can choose to enter the address manually or utilize the auto-location feature powered by GPS, ensuring convenience and accuracy.
Quick Contact Information: Collect essential details like phone number and emergency contact details for efficient communication.
3. Reassurance and Transparency
Callback Guarantee: A clear call to action (CTA) promises a callback within 6 seconds, fostering a sense of security.
Engaging Animation: An engaging loading animation displays "connecting with ambulances nearby," accompanied by a comforting message that a RED.Health representative will connect shortly.
Alternative Options: A bottom sheet provides the option to call the helpline or request the service again in case the callback isn't received within the promised timeframe.
4. Real-Time Tracking & Information
Live Ambulance Tracking: Upon booking confirmation, users are directed to a screen displaying the ambulance's real-time location on a map.
ETA & Additional Details: View the estimated arrival time (ETA), track the ambulance's progress, and receive updates on whether it has arrived at the pickup location or reached the hospital.
Driver & Vehicle Details: Access information about the driver, vehicle, and accompanying medical professional, if any.
Contact & Sharing: Users can directly contact the ambulance driver and share the ride status with others for added peace of mind.
5. User History & Feedback
Ride History: Easily review past ambulance rides with month-wise segregation for convenient reference.
Post-Ride Experience & Rating: View ride details and provide optional ratings after completing the ambulance service.
6. Continuous Support
Dedicated Support Icon: A readily accessible support icon allows users to connect with RED.Health representatives for any queries or concerns.
