Englishman In New York

While creating this work, I was inspired by the song "Englishman In New York" by Sting. Every sound of this melody brought with it the unique atmosphere of the city that never sleeps. The elements of jazz music embedded in this track make this song a modern hit. Even after many years, English In New York remains relevant, transporting me to a world of unique musical emotion.

In my work, I used the Kharkiv font, which was developed by the artist Kateryna Drozd, inspired by urban graffiti.

Both jazz and graffiti embody the spirit of improvisation, creativity and self-expression. Their characteristics are comparable to the improvisational solo performances of jazz musicians, where each performance is unique and expresses the performer's individuality. Just like in graffiti, where artists freely express their ideas and feelings on huge walls and surfaces.

Additionally, both jazz and graffiti originated as art forms usually associated with the street environment and culture of youth communities. They both have energy and expressiveness that reflect the dynamics of life in urban environments.
