Light of a Firefly

As part of a haiku book I have been designing the illustrations for along with the book cover jacket and the format of the book, this piece of work is a personal favourite.

The poem goes:

"oh, a shooting star?

no, light of

a firefly"

- S.J

The Design Process

I analysed the poem and visualised what the words were telling me. Once I had an image construct in my mind, I straight away sketched my vision on Adobe Fresco. There are 4 layers to this; the shaded graphite pencil in blue, shaded graphite pencil in black, thin soft pixel brush in red, lead pencil, thin soft pixel brush in yellow and graphite pencil in yellow.

The time spent on drawing was approximately 2 days to complete including feedback and reiteration development on the design.
