The Lowdown on How to Prevent STDs

The Lowdown on How to Prevent Sexually Transmitted Diseases was an interactive infographic created to educate young adults on STD prevention and safe sex habits. I proposed the project and worked with a health communicator within the Division of STD Prevention to create a general outline and content for the single page web infographic.

Sketches

After the copy was approved, I presented sketches to team members, iterated through different ideas, and made additional adjustment to the content document.

Layout and Wireframes

More detailed layouts and wireframes were presented to the team with added focus on typography alongside column layouts of graphics and text. After the wireframes were signed off on, I began creating and manipulating digital illustrations and establishing style guides.

Graphic Design and Digitial Illustration

Several graphics underwent revisions due to audience concerns, however, after troubleshooting alternatives to previously approved ideas, I was finally able to begin the process of writing custom HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Conclusion

The final result was a fun, responsive, and well-received web experience that was unlike anything else that the division had previously produced. The division actively plugged the infographic throughout social media and awareness campaigns with high engagement and positive feedback.
