Masonry Leaderboard

Here I'm trying to design a leaderboard for an in-class quiz. I wanted it to have a gameshow feel to it - high contrast - as it would be on a screen in front of the class which may not be a very good one. The first release wasn't going to let students upload their own avatar, so I thought about their names instead, and came up with this horizontal masonry. Or a race track, but with only a sense of where they are on the leaderboard. I felt it was more inclusive to show the whole class, and so the gaps in between are actually random between 0-2 spaces.
