Calendar App Design Mini Case Study
Hi !
I completed my mission #UIX101 #038 😀
In this task, we were asked to create a calendar/agenda application for a startup that rivals #Google #Calendar and has a better user experience.
By talking to a few people around me who use Google Calendar, I learned about the features of the application that they said "it would be better", that they had problems with, and that they were satisfied with. The pain points were briefly as follows:
1. Customization of event periods is limited. More than one period cannot be added to an event. For example, let's say I want to make plans to go to the pool. In app, when I want to add a special period such as remind me of this event every week on Tuesday and remind me every two weeks on Friday, I have to enter a separate period for Tuesday and a separate period for Friday.
2. I cannot see the events, even in the form of pins, in the annual view.
They are happy with the basic features. Therefore, I made a design to solve the above two problems. I tried to solve the first problem by adding the ability to optionally add multiple event periods on the event adding page. To solve the second problem, instead of trying to fit the entire year on a single page in the yearly view, I divided it into 6 months and thus had more space for each date. I added a pin to the empty space created. I thought that this way, the user would be able to see which days there are events throughout the year by simply switching between two pages in the calendar.
