Kolkata New Metro Map

My home city Kolkata just got an extended metro line, and the transport authorities released this ugly map for public. I wanted to design something cleaner and better.

Inspired by London Tube

I was always fascinated by Harry Beck's original London Tube map design, and wanted to design something inspired by that. Since Kolkata was the British capital during the colonial time, it was thought to be as a London twin city. So the Kolkata metro tube's poster should also look like it (maybe).

This is the original map released by the metro rail corporation. I might have missed out some technical details and some naming mistakes. Also i just wanted to have fun and I'm not a cartographer by any means. So please if there is any factual errors, don't sue me KMRC 🙏🏽.

Fonts used are Sarvatrik Bangla from Adobe Fonts by Universal Thrist Foundry. This font works well for Bangla language as well, whose design I will be releasing soon.
