OCTOTEXTIL
Bioplastics
For me the ocean is the most beautiful piece of art in the planet, it breaks my heart to see how we destroy it. I wanted to make something sustainable, a new material to create clothes, furniture, art, etc. I went to the kitchen and started to do some bioplastics, inspired by the contamination in the sea. I came up with a texture bioplastic that can look like octopus tentacles, representing the sea. Plastic because of all the trash that goes down to the sea but with a sustainable twist. I used water, grenadine, glycerine, white vinegar and some food colorant to create the bioplastic. I found some bubble wrap in my house for a package that had arrived that week and I knew I had to use it for my texture. I made tests and some did turn out really good.
