Beluga Mother & Baby (Childhood Toys)

When I was 6 years old,

I got this small, rubber animal of a baby beluga that became my favorite toy in the entire world! At the same time, my little brother Abe got the toy of the mother. These were such prized possessions to us, but over the years (and after many family moves) our beloved Belugas disappeared.

We have no idea what happened to them!

I recently had the idea of trying to hunt down these classic rubber toys on Ebay – and was successful

Turns out they were part of Safari LTD's Monterey Bay Aquarium collection in 1991. I bought both the mother and the baby for separate sellers, in decent condition. When they finally arrived, I was instantly transported to being 6 years old.

Of course I had to do a little procreate practice sketch of these little guys!
