Revolutionising Micropayments; A Seamless Checkout Experience

The aim of this project is to create a frictionless micropayments system for returning users by developing a checkout process that is incredibly easy to use and seamlessly integrates with various online platforms.

Payment, the payment modal pops up, prompting the users to select the card this micropayment should be billed to

This is what a user sees when they encounter a paywall

Payment

If the user chooses to proceed, the payment modal pops up, prompting the users to select the card this micropayment should be billed to

Confirmation

The user is then asked to confirm that the payment details are correct in order to continue the payment process

Authentication

The user is then sent an OTP to their registered phone number. This serves as an additional security measure to verify the identity of the user when making a payment.

Payment successful

This is the success screen for when the micro payment has been successful. This gives the user full access to the digital content just paid for.

Learnings and findings

During my research for this project, I found out that;

  1. Users expect a swift checkout experience, particularly for small transactions involving digital content. User surveys consistently highlighted the importance of convenience and efficiency in micropayments.

  2. Security measures: They also expect it to be highly secured(they will love to be reassured if possible), given that they will be inputting some very personal information.

This project is something I really enjoyed working on, as it involved a lot of design thinking, iteration and testing, in order to satisfy the needs of the user. I plan on working on a full case study for this project and I'll add the link to this once it's ready! For now, you can check out the prototype here
