Project Introduction

The project was to design a logo for Onudhabon, a skill development company based in Bangladesh. The company is a new start-up that aims to provide training and education to young people and professionals in various fields and sectors. The logo was intended to reflect the company’s vision of empowering people with skills and knowledge that can help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

The logo design process involved the following steps:

  • Researching the company’s background, mission, values, target audience, and competitors.

  • Brainstorming ideas and concepts for the logo, based on the company’s name, which means “development” in Bengali.

  • Sketching and refining the logo design, using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as the main tools.

  • Choosing the colors, fonts, and shapes for the logo, based on the company’s preferences and industry standards.

  • Presenting the logo design to the client and receiving feedback and approval.

The logo design was delivered to the client on 3/06/2024, within the agreed deadline and budget. The client was satisfied with the logo design and expressed appreciation for the professionalism and creativity of the designer.

The logo design consists of two main elements: a letter O and a stylized arrow. The letter O represents the company’s name and the circular shape symbolizes completeness, unity, and harmony. The arrow represents the company’s direction and progress, as well as the skills and opportunities that it offers to its customers. The arrow also forms a subtle plus sign, which implies positivity, growth, and improvement. The logo uses two colors: blue and yellow. Blue is a color that conveys trust, reliability, and professionalism, while yellow is a color that conveys energy, optimism, and innovation. How I Start This Project

The first step of this project was to understand the client’s business and their goals for the logo design. I had a meeting with the client, Sadab Ibban, who explained to me the vision and mission of Onudhabon, as well as their target audience and competitors. He also shared with me some examples of logos that he liked and disliked, and the reasons why.

Based on the information I gathered from the client, I created a brief that summarized the main points and requirements for the logo design. The brief also included the project timeline, budget, and deliverables. I sent the brief to the client for approval and feedback, and made some revisions based on his suggestions.

After the brief was finalized, I started to do some market research and analysis. I looked at the logos of other skill development companies in Bangladesh and abroad, and noted their strengths and weaknesses. I also studied the trends and best practices in logo design for this industry, and the expectations and preferences of the potential customers.

With the research done, I moved on to the brainstorming and sketching phase. I generated many ideas and concepts for the logo, using different techniques such as mind mapping, word association, and visual metaphors. I experimented with various shapes, symbols, fonts, and colors that could represent the company’s name and personality. I sketched my ideas on paper and selected the most promising ones to refine and digitize.

  • A vector graphics software that allows the designer to create and edit scalable and editable logos. Vector graphics are preferred over raster graphics because they can be resized and modified without losing quality or clarity.   • A font library that contains a variety of typefaces that can suit different logo styles and personalities. These are some of the essential instruments that I use for logo design. They help me to create logos that are creative, professional, and effective. Of course, there are other instruments that can also be useful for logo design, such as a tablet and a stylus, a color picker tool, a logo mockup tool, and a logo design book. But these are the ones that I consider the most important and indispensable for my work.

Challenge On This Project

Designing a logo for Onudhabon was not an easy task. I faced several challenges along the way, such as:

  • Finding a unique design idea that would stand out from the crowd and reflect the company’s name and vision. I had to avoid clichés and stereotypes, and come up with something original and creative.

  • Solely depending on the trends and best practices in logo design, without losing sight of the client’s needs and preferences. I had to balance between following the industry standards and adding my own touch and style to the logo.

  • Designing with the perspective of the potential customers, rather than my own. I had to understand the target audience of Onudhabon, their expectations, and their preferences. I had to create a logo that would appeal to them and communicate the value proposition of the company.

  • Adding too much complexity to the logo design, which could make it confusing and hard to remember. I had to keep the logo simple, clear, and elegant, without compromising on its meaning and impact.

  • Ensuring the logo is versatile and can be used across different mediums and platforms, such as print, web, social media, etc. I had to make sure the logo is scalable, adaptable, and consistent, regardless of the size, shape, or color.

To overcome these challenges, I used various strategies and techniques, such as:

  • Doing extensive research and analysis on the company, the market, the competitors, and the customers. I used online tools and resources, such as Google, Bing, 99designs, Shutterstock, etc., to find relevant information and inspiration.

  • Brainstorming and sketching multiple logo ideas and concepts, using different methods, such as mind mapping, word association, and visual metaphors. I experimented with different shapes, symbols, fonts, and colors, and selected the most promising ones to refine and digitize.

  • Getting feedback and approval from the client at every stage of the design process, from the brief to the final delivery. I communicated with the client regularly, listened to his suggestions and comments, and made the necessary revisions and adjustments.

  • Testing and evaluating the logo design on various mockups and scenarios, such as business cards, letterheads, websites, social media profiles, etc. I checked the logo’s readability, visibility, and attractiveness, and made sure it works well on different backgrounds and contexts.

Client Approach

The client approach is the way I communicate and interact with the client throughout the logo design process. It involves understanding the client’s needs and expectations, presenting the logo design concepts, and getting feedback and approval. The client approach is crucial for building trust and rapport with the client, as well as ensuring the logo design meets the client’s satisfaction.

The client approach consists of the following steps:

  • Initial meeting: This is the first contact with the client, where I introduce myself and my services, and learn about the client’s business and goals. I ask the client questions about their company, their target audience, their competitors, and their preferences for the logo design. I also show the client some of my previous work and testimonials to demonstrate my skills and experience.

  • Proposal: This is the document that outlines the scope, timeline, budget, and deliverables of the logo design project. I send the proposal to the client for review and acceptance, and negotiate any changes or revisions if needed.

  • Research and analysis: This is the stage where I conduct market research and analysis, and gather inspiration and ideas for the logo design. I look at the logos of other skill development companies, and study the trends and best practices in logo design for this industry. I also research the potential customers and their expectations and preferences.

  • Design and presentation: This is the stage where I create and present the logo design concepts to the client. I usually design two or three logo concepts, based on the brief and the research. I present the logo concepts in a professional and persuasive way, using mockups and slides to show how the logos would look in different contexts and scenarios. I explain the rationale and meaning behind each logo concept, and how they align with the client’s goals and values.

  • Feedback and revision: This is the stage where I receive feedback and comments from the client, and make the necessary revisions and adjustments to the logo design. I listen to the client’s opinions and suggestions, and incorporate them into the logo design. I also provide my own recommendations and advice, and explain why some changes may or may not work. I aim to reach a final logo design that the client is happy with and approves.

  • Delivery and support: This is the final stage of the logo design process, where I deliver the logo design files and formats to the client, and provide support and guidance on how to use the logo.
