Von Humboldt / Beyond the Stream Screen Design
I was commissioned by Medusa.tv (www.Medusa.tv) in Santiago, Chile to work on the screen designs for the upcoming live conference "Von Humboldt - Beyond the Stream" starring special guest Andrea Wulf, the author of the worldwide bestseller "The Invention of Nature" in which she reveals the extraordinary life of the German naturalist and how he created the way we understand nature today. A deep dive into the great influence of Alexander von Humboldt on the modern notions of environment.
Designed for Full Screen Resolution (11198 pixels wide x 1400 pixels high) in order to be later projected onto 7 screens, each measuring 3 meters wide x 3 meters high, separated by a gap of 50 centimeters in between each screen.
The idea was to compose a visual journey that starts with the organic chaos of life and the lack of understanding of nature itself, followed by a deep look and thorough study of the nature and behaviour of the natural world. The next step was to portray the current state of nature as it is now, putting development over nature.
Finally there is the search for balance within development and nature and its resources.
Using Encyclopedia style Illustrations, textures inside shapes and collage-like cutouts to create various chaotic buy eye-catching compositions for the live show screen designs.
