Photographer Rebecca Zephyr Thomas embarked on a captivating journey to document the vibrant atmosphere of London’s Underage Festival during the years 2007 and 2008. Through her lens, she captured not only the spirited performances of emerging artists but also the raw energy and youthful exuberance of the attending teenagers. This invaluable collection of photographs presents a rare and compelling opportunity to design a photo archive and out of home ads, meticulously chronicling the essence of the indie sleaze movement that continues to define generations.
Inspired by the spirit of the late 2000s indie sleaze movement, we meticulously crafted the zine's design to reflect its rebellious yet sweet aesthetic. Our approach delicately juxtaposed vibrant and subdued colors, incorporating unconventional layouts to evoke the movement's free-spirited energy. Through thoughtful font selection, we ensured the zine maintains its relevance, blending nostalgia with contemporary appeal for a truly immersive reader experience.
The widespread recognition and acclaim garnered by the zine across diverse global publications such as Dazed, The Sunday Times, and Hero, in countries including the U.K., U.S., France, and New Zealand, underscore its profound influence and reach within the cultural zeitgeist. By earning accolades from esteemed media outlets on an international scale, the zine has not only solidified its status as a seminal work within the indie sleaze genre but has also sparked meaningful conversations and resonated deeply with audiences worldwide, shaping perspectives and fostering a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance of the late 2000s era.
