Course Selection UX Redesign
This was a fun side project I took on in the summer of 2017. From 2015 to 2019, I was enrolled in a program called New Media, which was a mixed media arts program that allowed students to pursue a variety of different specializations and careers. Selecting courses was an important decision that required careful research and consideration since the program was so multidisciplinary.
I felt increasingly annoyed by the difficulty and complexity when it came time to selecting courses in my program, thanks in large part to the University's clunky and outdated proprietary software. I wanted to imagine what my program's selection process would look like in a modern and sleek presentation, separated from the University. And so I challenged myself by redesigning it!
The most important factor was to simplifying the complexity of picking courses; clearly and visually indicating which ones had prerequisites, and which courses counted towards "specializations". To achieve this, I opted for a legend with color-coded icons. This was one of my first UX projects and was a significant learning experience.
