Banyan tree illustration
We've been working on a lot of exciting stuff at The Crazy Ones. This is an illustration we created for an album cover for our friends at Kirtan Raga. Kirtan is an Indian meditation practice that uses music and chanting to relieve stress, elevate the mind and establish a connection with the spiritual world. You can listen to Kirtan Raga's first album at Soundcloud.
The illustration depicts a sacred banyan tree on the shore of a lake. In Hindu tradition this symbol is used to describe the connection between the physical and spiritual world. The tree's reflection looks the same as the actual object, but has no substance. In a similar way, the sensory world we live in resembles the spiritual world, but doesn't have its values.
