Marigolds in Mexico

I drew this bud vase of marigolds while sitting at a cafe in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. It was late October, and all of Oaxaca was preparing for the Dia de Muertos festivities by adorning their storefronts, businesses, and homes with brightl orange marigolds. This still life captures the excitement that I felt, along with all of the other tourists and locals, anticipating the celebrations that were about to occur.
