Ski Resort MBA Project
This project was a business presentation about a Work Council organizing a one-week trip in the French Alps. In this project we managed to split the work in six parts so all of us could be able to speak equally.
To make the business trip believable each of us did real research online, contacting the ski resort to know about the stays, the prices, the places,... the buses for the trip from our company to Méribel in the South East of France.
We also did many calculus about the expenses, the budget to make sure we are aware of all the things we need to gather in order to satisfy all of our travelers.
The Work Council name was We Are Together and our slogan is “Enjoy the moment” because we aspire to create good memories and deepen our bond with our employees through concept like this and build up on this kind of actions for now and the future.
We are going to talk about the name of our Works council: We Are Together. Why We Are Together? Because this shares the values of our company, the unity between our employees, and together we go along and we are stronger. We decided to organize this stay during the February’s holidays which will take place in a ski resort and will last one week, for 100 People (50 Employees, 50 guests). The main idea is to bring our employees out of the working world. To organize this trip, our works council chose the French Alps as a destination: MÉRIBEL, a ski resort very coveted.
First of all, we will talk about the Organization of the trip, secondly we will explain how we found it and why we chose this specific hotel and transportation, thirdly we will explain the activities without forgetting to talk about catering and finally we will talk about the budget.
Indeed, we chose the ski resort, Méribel. Why the Ski resort: Because skiing is a way of escaping for people to take them out of the workplace. Throughout this stay, employees will relax and enjoy. Moreover, this trip will enable them to share moments with their relatives. During this meeting, we will raise several points, such as the date of the information release about the trip, sending e-mails to employees. We will also discuss the partnerships that will be developed.
The Second week of September, we made a survey about sharing the rooms. Indeed, this is the most important thing for the trip, because not everyone wants to share their room during a stay. After a week, we collected the survey, and then we decided to organize a conference call with our partner hotel.
The Third Week of September, we contacted our partner hotel: LA CHAUDANNE. During this conference call, we talked about our stay in Meribel. Indeed, as we knew they had a 4-star hotel there, so we took advantage of our partnership to be able to book the 4-star hotel. After that, we informed them of how many people will be coming, and how many rooms we want to book. So, we gave them all the information they needed to make the quotation.
The fourth week, we scheduled a 2nd conference call with our partner hotel, to confirm the booking for a 100 people for the requested period. So, they sent us the quotation during the conference, and they offered us a discount in the price. Moreover, La Chaudanne, informed us that the insurance is included in the price. After giving us all the information about the booking, we decided to schedule to give the information for the trip.
During this meeting, we also called our partners, such as Café Royal, and Snowleader, to talk about the trip we are preparing. You must know we’ve already worked with them on different events. For Café Royal, we have renewed our partnership, which is to take a picture with the Café Royal, and then post it on Facebook, with #UnePhotoPourCaféRoyal (A photo for Café Royal). In exchange, Café Royal will pay a quarter of the Hotel bill. We can also talk about our partner Snowleader that is the equipment supplier for the hotel La Chaudanne, to equip the people who will take part in. As a result, Snowleader has also decided to give us a discount on the activities we have chosen.
So the employees of the bank are well aware of the trip, we decided at first to send an email on October 30th you will find below attached the poster.
The poster is our logo W.A.T (We Are Together), our slogan "Enjoy every moment", the trip will run from 09th to 16th February.
The Royal Coffee logo appears on the poster because we decided to make a partnership.
The image you see in the background is the photo of the French Alps on the side of Méribel.
To register for the stay, employees must complete the registration form with the employee's contact information such as name and position. But also, the information of the partner who will accompany the employee.
The trip costs EUR 900 per person except :
- If the person is an employee of the bank, he will pay EUR 300 the remaining 600 € will be paid by the company.
- If the person is the guest, he will SETTLE 600 € and we will fund the remaining 300 €.
It is possible to send back the filled in form to keep the seats
For the means of payment, it is possible to pay in 3 times the total amount, but for the registration to be taken into account it is necessary to pay the entire trip 1 month before, otherwise the seat will be released for others.
Employees will have the opportunity to pay in different ways :
- Transfer, on request of our RIB
- Withdrawal, with a RIB accompanied by the registration form
- Cash, when filling in the form a receipt will be given as evidence
- Check to the order of WAT BNP
The stay will be from 09th to 16th February. Trip to Chaudanne at Méribel which is 9 hours away from la defense.
To go to Méribel we will use 2 coaches seating 50 to 60 , so we asked a quotation from Flixbus and Ouibus
For Flixbus : we’ll have enough to go together with 2 drivers for 79,79€ per person, this includes the cost of the parking space, tolls, possible costs of accommodation and meals for drivers and the coach is equipped with air conditioning and toilets.
For Ouibus unfortunately, there weren’t enough seats for everyone it has a maximum 76 people even if it were cheaper 76,00€ we would have to divide our groups into 2 sub groups, so 2 different trips will create organizational issues.
The day of the departure will be the 9.02.2018 :
We’ll have an appointment at 8 a.m., the coach will leave at 9 a.m. at La Défense where our employees work. We’ll stop at 1 p.m. at a rest area near Dijon to eat but you’ll have to come and buy some food at the rest area.
We’ll arrive in front of the hotel at Méribel at 6 a.m.
We’ll stay until 18th February, the activities we’ll end at 4 pm to have enough time to organize our things and meet at coach at 7 p.m.. We’ll leave at 8 p.m. . And come back at 5 a.m. at La Défense. We’ll sleep on the coach and come when the public transports open.
The Rules
But there are of course some rules to follow :
For the safety and health of the driver and passengers, we’ll have to do a break of 45 minutes because we’ll have to spend 9 hours on the coach and according to the law when the driving time is more than 4 hours and 30 minutes in the Day and 4 hours the night. It can be divided into 2 periods we’ll let the driver decide when he wants to stop.
The driver can’t drive more than 9 hours per day. He must respect the maximum driving time fortunately we don’t exceed the maximum.
The driver has to rest 11 hours following the trip.
The driver can work until 12 hours per day from the beginning to the end of the working day.
Our coach trip will lead to the charming La Chaudanne Hotel located in Méribel in the French Alps where our team will spend a wonderful week.
At the heart of the Méribel resort, stands the 4-star which is ideal for romantic getaways, or holidays with friends and family. This hotel perfectly matches the fundamental values of welcoming guests, in a friendly and sophisticated setting.
Here La Chaudanne hotel offers us for hundred people 4 types of rooms :
Little single and standard room of 15 to 20 sqm for one or two people including a king size bed, a tv set and a balcony.
Single superior room from 25 sqm for one or two persons including a king size bed, a tv and a balcony.
Little double and standard room of 15 to 20 m² for one or two persons including a king size bed, a tv and a balcony.
Double superior room from 25 m² for one or two persons including a king size bed, a tv and a balcony.
All these rooms are half board and it leads us to the restaurant named « Brasserie Le Quatre vingts » which offers a breakfast buffet, a half-board menu of your choice with daily specials and à la carte dishes in a setting reminding of the travels of some of the greatest explorers. We've got specially for those who like meeting new people with no pressure a lounge-style musical atmosphere hotel bar.
The hotel has two nearby institutions :
Le ROK, an Altitude restaurant to organize an exceptional lunch or dinner at the top of the slopes.
Les Saint-Pères, the nightclub of Méribel in front of the hotel for your after-evenings.
During the indwelling, all of us will need to relax so what about our Spa NUXE to relax your body, mind and soul in one of our six cabins including three doubles for lovers, an aquatic area with a bright and heated indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room for the most chilly and a fitness room to keep fit and sublimate shapes as well. Plus, we boast an area dedicated to teens and children of course, with board games, coloring-in games, books... for 4-12 years old and for teens a PlayStation 4 with the latest release video games, a multimedia PC, pool table and darts board for no end of fun with friends. If you rather like having fun outside two ski shops «Chaudanne sport» and «L'Eskale» are at your disposal with a direct access to the slopes via the lift.
While touring, you can’t rule anything out and you have to expect the unexpected. However, at the end of it all, we also made lots of amazing friends.
Before we embark on our tour, we should plan our tour. One of the best things about touring is that you can explore the best activities, the better prepared we are, the more we’ll be able to explore.
We organize specialized activities :
We recommend 19 activities We have divided 100 people into 4 groups of 25.
Every group will participate in all the 19 activities.
Ski activities :
Backcountry Skiing day: We can discover the most beautiful off-road of the Three Valleys with our private guide.
Ski touring day: The best way to access the peaceful places of the 3 Valleys, away from the crowds.
First off track experience : Discover and learn about the technique of ski touring with the advice of our guide on a dedicated slope
Mountain safety training: A guide, mountain expert, will give us the rules of safety and behavior in the face of an avalanche, will explain the basic mechanisms of avalanches by helping us identify the different layers of the snowpack
Outing activities :
Backcountry Outing day: We can discover the spots of the 3 valleys. A guide will give us some well-chosen tips to improve our technique, an awareness of responsible behavior in the mountains.
A day time outing around Lake Tueda : A wonderful ride out through magnificent mountain scenery up to Lake Tueda.
Path of the Valloon : Very nice walk, possibility to go up or down in ski lifts or continuing on a climb to the summit of Mont Vallon gondola (highest point of the valley of Meribel)
Cultural activities :
Raffort watermill and sawmill : A recently-restored watermill and sawmill under one roof are open to the public, located at Raffort village
Museum : the museum of Allues has beautiful artefacts, such as photos of the initiation of skiing as well as period equipment (skis, boots, etc.). It also has rare objects in store, such as ancient property registers dating back to the 17th Century. Traditional clothing (primarily ski items) are also presented on mannequins.

Shopping
Swimming-Pool: Aquagames Evening: water and underwater activities, archery ping-pong, wooden games, slide.
We cannot forget catering that’s why we chose this point at the end. Everything about the catering part, we chose to make it at the end of the stay at around 10 p.m. . We suppose that after all activities our employees will need to eat and make a last party before going to sleep. So, we all have chosen a restaurant offering meals, coffee and a party at the end.
We started to contact them at the end of December to book without giving any deposit and we managed to catch like 15 restaurants in mid January. We chose 8 restaurants. We have 4 restaurants offering partying after eating such as Karaoke or Pub and another four closing at 10 p.m.
To organize it, some days we will stage other activities after 10 p.m. And we choose to let them make themselves their choice when we are there. So, you understand that it’s was very complicated to find restaurants that can welcome 100 PAX that is why we chose 8 restaurants.
We will make teams of 50 PAX per restaurant and switch the team the day after. It important to notify that restaurants can welcome 75 PAX.
Our choice was made to the restaurant’s menu and the comments we got in TripAdvisor.
The menu is around 35 euros per person and all these restaurants offer meal/ fish/ salad like you can see in this picture. Even if this is the menu for only one restaurant, the rest is given good choice too.
It’s important to notify all 6 restaurants :
We had chosen la Rasto, le Tsaretta spicy, l'Igloo, la Taverne (ending at 2 a.m), la Biz Olée, Le Martagon, le New Merib’s, la terrasse du village (closing at 12 a.m),
In all those restaurants, our employees can eat La Fondue, international cooking, French and international specialties.
According to all we said, we can see that everyone should take vacations even if we are busy. We need to experience a good ski vacation, it will help us reduce our stress, discover new places in the world and culture.
