Bealtaine

This illustration is inspired by the celebration of Bealtaine, the Celtic pagan ritual that opens the doors to summer. It is a celebration of the ancestral, a prayer to the gods to take care of the livestock, but it is also the energy that connects with mother earth and the cycles of nature. For the Celts, fire was sacred as it signified death and rebirth, we could say that the bonfire is the confirmation of the new beginning that the arrival of summer brings.
