David and Bones

The original work, sculpted in marble between 1501 and 1504, depicts the biblical hero David in a moment of concentration and readiness to face the giant Goliath.

For this reinterpretation, the hatching technique was used to create light and shadow, in addition to the volumetry. Focusing on the head of the sculpture, it was "cut" to show the skeleton underneath the flesh; in this case, underneath the marble.
